-Urandrum - Ancient Demons of the Underworld-
Urandrum
The Urandrum are the Ancient Demons of the Underworld. The Urandrum have a
purpose unlike any demon known to the Marakai.
-The Purpose-
The Urandrum have 2 main purposes:
Protectors of the IV Marakian Beasts of the
Underground World: This is their main purpose. One might wonder why such
supreme beings as the Beasts would need to be protected, but there is no being
in any world that is free from death. The Urandrum serve the Beasts and are the
ones whom in which go into the world and do everything within their power to
make certain that the Beasts secret world remains forever hidden to outsiders.
The Beasts are the mothers and fathers of the Marakine demons, those that give
power to the world.
Power: This is one of the purposes of
the Marakian Dimension. If the Beasts and all their offspring die, then the
Gateway of the Marakian Dimension will close and ALL power would cease to exist
over time. Thus the Urandrum must become the strongest and wisest protectors of
the IV Beasts.
-Power-
The Urandrum have unique abilities all upon their
own. The Urandrum are older and more powerful than even the Archons. They
are, by many accounts, even more seductive and desirable than Vampires are
and they can breed their own children as well as create fledglings through
kiss and intimate touch (in human and demon form alike). But they can only
convert another being into a Urandrum if that being’s blood is of only one
race. For more information on the creation of an Urandrum, see Urandrum
Creation (below).
This does not mean however that the Urandrum cannot learn other abilities. In
fact, to hide what they are outside the Underground World, the human form
learns other abilities so that they can "fit in" to society as reborn humans,
which usually means they have special abilities. The following are the known
natural powers of the Urandrum.
In both human and Urandrum form:
Teleporting: The Urandrum, though
usually only in human form, have LIMITED teleporting abilities. They can only
teleport from their present location to The Shores of Brada near the Island
of the Beasts, The Island of the Beasts, or The Underground World of the
Marakian Dimension. They use this as a defense mechanism to keep anyone else
from discovering what they truly are.
Self-Healing: The Urandrum have the
ability to heal their bodies from injury, unless they are faltering from the
Urandrum ways. NOTE: Urandrum cannot heal themselves instantaneously! Healing
takes time, especially for younger Urandrum. Elder Urandrum can heal a
serious wound within a few minutes, but it DOES take energy from them and
they will be weaker.
Sanguinary Manipulation: The blood of
these demons is like an aphrodisiac, or death waiting. Those that have tasted
it and lived to tell the tale have described it as ‘the drink of the Gods’.
Their blood can cause a result of whatever he or she chooses. If a Urandrum
wishes to give another pleasure by the taste—and even touch—of their blood,
then that is what it will be. If a Urandrum desires to use their blood to put
a mind at ease, cause insanity, or even kill, it is their will. With a few
chanted words in the Urandrum language, these demons control what the outcome
will be when their blood makes contact with another being.
Once Urandrum blood has been consumed by another creature, that blood will
ALWAYS be a part of them. There is no way to remove that Urandrum taint,
unless that Urandrum whose blood it is dies. Through the consumption of
Urandrum blood, the Urandrum potentially has a permanent sway over that
being. If the Urandrum wishes, they can do one of a few things.
1) The Urandrum can put that being under an enchantment of sorts, where
the Urandrum uses them as an unknowing “spy”. Through the blood, the
Urandrum can see or hear what that individual encounters, though only one
at a time. The Urandrum CANNOT hear and see at the same time what the
tainted individual does. Even the youngest of Urandrum can do this to a
victim. (NOTE: Any information received through this method in another
thread, CAN be used by the Urandrum ONLY if it is posted in THAT thread
that the information has been eavesdropped on.)
2) The Urandrum can use that being as an unwilling, but fully aware
“puppet”. The tainted individual is FULLY aware of what they are doing, and
how they are being used, but they have absolutely no ability to refuse to
do what the Urandrum “puppet master” tells them to do. This ability only
comes to an Urandrum with age, and AFTER they have received their wings
through the bay lead (Elder Urandrum). (NOTE: Urandrum puppets CAN fight
against the will of the Puppetmaster, but in the end they must do as the
Urandrum says, less the blood within them become a torment at the
Urandrum’s desire.)
3) The Urandrum can use the blood to begin the creation of a new Urandrum.
See Urandrum Creation.
Just as their blood is desirable to those that even know of it (there are few
that do), the Urandrum crave blood and flesh like that of Lycan or a Vampire.
Urandrum are usually savage when it comes to feeding, and have been known to
rip a victim’s flesh to shreds, making sure to leave the victim alive while
he does it. Their bloodlust is strong and like their transformation, they
cannot control it.
Urandrum Creation: Urandrum can be
created in one of two ways. Naturally, and through conversion. Only creatures
of ONE race are chosen to be converted to Urandrum. The Urandrum are VERY
picky as to whom they create/choose to become Urandrum. IN ALL CASES,
PERMISSION MUST BE GIVEN BY THE URANDRUM ROYALS FOR ANOTHER URANDRUM TO BE
CREATED OR CONVERTED.
1) Urandrum can be born naturally to two parent Urandrum. Typically,
ONLY Urandrum Elders are permitted to breed. Any Urandrum that do not have
their baylead wings are forbidden from breading, as they might weaken the
collective bloodline. The gestation period for an Urandrum varies,
depending upon their location. When in the Underground World, an Urandrum
is pregnant for five months. If they are not in the Underground World, the
Urandrum gestation period is nine months. This aids to keep the Urandrum
identity a secret. NATURAL BREEDING IS ONLY PERMITTED BETWEEN TWO URANDRUM
ELDERS. BREEDING WITH OTHER RACES IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN, AND WILL RESULT IN
THE EXECUTION OF BOTH OFFENDING PARTIES.
2) Urandrum can convert another creature through the use of kiss, and
intimate touch. It is only creatures of ONE bloodline that are allowed to
be converted into an Urandrum. This stipulation is in place to keep the
Urandrum bloodline strong. ANY Urandrum that disobeys this law is hunted
down, and executed, as is the creature beginning the transformation. THERE
IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE. As with natural breeding, permission must be
given by the Urandrum Royals to convert another to Urandrum.
Conversion is very similar to a vampyric conversion, however MUCH slower.
Urandrum conversion begins with the seduction of the potential convert.
During this seduction, there is an exchange of blood, typically the
Urandrum will bite his/her own tongue, allowing it to cause exquisite
pleasure in the convert. While the convert is in the throws of extasy, the
Urandrum will proceed to deliver what would be a fatal injury to the
creature, either a slit to the wrists, or a gash on the throat or stomach.
The Urandrum will then allow the person to fall almost to the point of
death, though the Urandrum does not necessarily consume the blood. It is
very important that the Urandrum does not fall into blood lust during this
process, less the Urandrum will kill the convert through the loss of self
control. At almost the point of death, the Urandrum will then introduce
his/her own blood into the open wound. Just a single droplet is enough to
begin the conversion. However the older the Urandrum, and the more blood
the Urandrum gives the creature, the faster the conversion can be. The
introduction of the Urandrum blood is what pulls the creature back from the
throws of death. THEY WILL NOT REMEMBER THEIR PAST LIFE, MEANING THE LIFE
THEY WERE JUST TURNED FROM! Once the Urandrum blood has been introduced,
the conversion has begun. The conversion will take anywhere from a week, to
months to complete. During that time, the convert is under the care of the
Urandrum whom converted them. This is a time of infancy, and training… ONLY
when the convert has killed their first victim, and gained their first
baylead, can they be considered an Urandrum.
In human
form:
Concealment: Limited to hiding their
true identities. If the Urandrum falters from the Urandrum ways, this
concealment ability is less effective. Elder Archons are not necessarily
fooled by this concealment, but with their fear of the Urandrum, they
wouldn't dare speak a word to the contrary of the concealment the Urandrum is
putting forth, IF they did see through it, since most of the time it means
Death. Urandrum can sense each other no matter the form they are in. This
helps to make sure no Urandrum let out of the Underground World falls prey to
human emotion.
In Urandrum form:
Source Stealing: Urandrums are
‘source-stealers’ and this ability alone makes them an extreme threat to
others. As they suck the essence from their victims, they take into them also
the powers that their victims possessed. Never do they have to learn it. They
can use their stolen power with the same experience that the victim could.
The downside to being a source-stealer is that if too many powers are taken,
a Urandrum can ultimately kill itself. Throughout a Urandrums life, he must
choose wisely what powers to steal and which ones to leave alone. The mixture
of too many powers in one being is a recipe for self-destruction, and the
Urandrum know this more than any other. They must also be extremely educated
in which powers should never be mixed. For instance, mimicking and
shape-shifting are two abilities that are likely to create conflict within a
single being. These two abilities are too much alike, but at the same time
are completely opposite. Teleportation and portal-opening are also clashing
abilities and they know should never be mixed. A Urandrum demon cannot use
their source-stealing ability while in human form.
The way that a Urandrum steals power is in the same way they can embrace a
victim: through kiss and intimate touch. For source stealing, the mouth and
body will appear fused to the victim’s as if they are a part of each other.
The victim never feels any pain, but instead, the most intoxicating pleasure
known to their erotic senses. Urandrum do not have to kill to steal power
like Vampires do with their inheriting ability, but sometimes they can drain
a victim so much that she may be extremely weak or even become deathly ill
afterwards. In war they can be unstoppable. When defending themselves or
those they care for, they can be undefeatable.
-The Elders & the Baylead-
As mentioned, they do not have to feed, but they do it
to show superiority, strength and seniority over other Urandrum. Each time they
feed—of essence or blood, and kill (whether the stealing of power is involved or
not) they gain a ‘baylead’. A baylead is a single line of color (no more than an
inch long) that appears on a Urandrum’s back. Eventually, after he has killed
enough, the bayleads form to reveal what looks like an enormous tattoo of a pair
of folded wings. When the picture is complete, at the Urandrum’s control, the
wings unfold from the skin and become real. Whenever he or she wishes, the wings
fold again and become nothing more than an inked picture. All Urandrum wings are
reptile-like, much like the wings of an Archon demon. The colors of the wings
are usually black or the darkest of blue. Once a Urandrum gets his wings, he or
she is considered a Urandrum Elder and the Elders are the most powerful and
respected by other Urandrum. Urandrum Elders are the only known beings that an
Archon Elder has ever cowered to in the history of the Marakai, or that of man.
-Appearance-
Unlike any other demon, four horns protrude from
their head. Two curve toward their cheeks while the other two curve upward
above their head. They have long tails where at the end it is shaped like the
head of a spear. Their hands and fingers are abnormally long and thin and
their fingernails are naturally black and finely honed. The males are usually
seven-feet in height—like the Nephilim—and although they are tall and lanky,
muscles ripple underneath their chalky-blue skin. All Urandrum have a most
awkward feature: the pictures upon their flesh. They are life-like
markings—best described as tattoos—of other Elder Urandrum, but they are no
ordinary inked figures. Much like their wings, the figures come alive. They
move and speak as any other living being, but they remain always in the same
area of their bodies.
There is not a single ‘unattractive’ Urandrum in the Marakai. Not one even
looks to be aging. Never has a Urandrum embraced any person who was not
considered ‘beautiful’. It is completely against their law and nature to
create an unsightly Urandrum. Even Urandrum that are born always grow up to
be beautiful. And another extraordinary thing about this race is that they
have never mated with a race other than their own while in demon form, and in
human form, they do sometimes have sexual encounters with other beings, but
never has a half-breed been made, ever.
The Urandrum are hard to kill and they are immune to poison and disease.
Beheading and sacrificial suicide are the prime ways to kill the demons of
this race, but they can also bleed to death. They age even slower than an
Archon. A Urandrum who has lived for one thousand years will appear to be a
youthful twenty-year-old, but once they begin to show signs of aging, they
will take their own life. This also applies to any Urandrum that suffers a
wound that leaves lifetime evidence and is considered unattractive. Their
wounds do self-heal, but when a Urandrum begins to be swayed by humans and
other races, and they begin to experience human emotions, their self-healing
ability will falter.
Urandrum, while in human form, can conceal their true identities from other
beings with impeccable precision. There are no beings; save for the Archons
that can perceive the beast within the human shell that harbors it. Some
beings are skilled enough to be able to sense that one may be a little more
than human, but a Urandrum does not give off any distinguishable scents about
them that will give away what they truly are. Not all, but some Archons—the
oldest and most experienced—have the ability to detect the Urandrum in a
human, but even still, it is not without some further investigation. The only
other time when a Urandrum might be detected by another being, is when he or
she has become vulnerable to the sway of human emotions. But all Urandrum, in
both human and demon form, can easily detect one another.
-The Beasts-
All Urandrum are connected to the Beasts, mind, body
and heart. When a Beast feels pain or pleasure, the Urandrum do as well. The
Urandrum hear their chaotic thoughts, see their bloody carnage and even when the
Beasts mate, they feel everything. Most Urandrum are very accustomed to these
things, but every now and then, one slips through the net of conformity, loyalty
and disobedience. While the Urandrum are in their human form, they are always
watching the others, making sure that not one Urandrum is succumbing to the ways
of life of other beings. If this happens, the safety and secrecy of the IV
Marakian Beasts is put at great risk. Urandrum have the innate ability to read
the minds of others. They are even so powerful that they have the ability to not
only close their own minds up to anyone who may wish to read it, but also they
can close the minds of others around them. But when one begins to stray, their
minds become weaker and penetrable, and they themselves also become weaker and
defeat-able. But even still, any Urandrum is dangerous and powerful, even those
that find themselves slipping.
Urandrum demons were—and some still are—created by the Beasts, not birthed from
them, but ‘chosen’. Though the Beasts do not speak or have a mentality to
understand anything other than their need to devour life, they do understand
when another being has the ingredients to become a Urandrum, that they must give
them a second chance at life. Of course, there are grave stipulations to this
false act of mercy. One chosen by the Beasts—and it does not happen often—will
go through many years of their new life, sometimes hideous and sometimes living
with great pain they can do nothing about. In this time they are ‘Becoming’
Urandrum and they are truly immortal. They cannot even kill themselves.
-The Urandrum Blood-
The blood of these demons is like an aphrodisiac, or death waiting. Those
that have tasted it and lived to tell the tale have described it as ‘the drink
of the Gods’. Their blood can cause a result of whatever he or she chooses. If a
Urandrum wishes to give another pleasure by the taste—and even touch—of their
blood, then that it what it will be. If a Urandrum desires to use their blood to
put a mind at ease, cause insanity, or even kill, it is their will. With a few
chanted words in the Urandrum language, these demons control what the outcome
will be when their blood makes contact with another being.
Just as their blood is desirable to those that even know of it (there are few
that do), the Urandrum crave blood and flesh like that of Lycan or a Vampire.
Urandrum are usually savage when it comes to feeding, and have been known to rip
a victim’s flesh to shreds, making sure to leave the victim alive while he does
it. Their bloodlust is strong and like their transformation, they cannot control
it.
-The Urandrum Transformation-
The Urandrum cannot control their lunar transformation
from human back to their demon form. For each it is different, and the ways in
which it transpires is different. Some become sickly, some become confused and
others become enraged during the onset of their transformation. When they must
shift forms, they go into hiding from the outside world. They dwell in the
Underground World of the IV Marakian Beasts. They are the only beings that can
enter the Beast’s lairs without the threat of being killed.
The Urandrum can control their shift at will any other time. This helps them
move from place to place quickly or fight. But it is also noted, that even
though a Urandrum may shift before their normal cycle, this does not stop the
cycle from happening.
-Past Lives-
Urandrum that are created—not born—hardly ever
remember their past lives. They could have been anyone, any race but not
remember a single thing about it. Some of them see glimpses of their pasts; some
have dreams, while others never remember a single thing from before they were
Urandrum. It depends on the individual and his or her strength in mind. Those
that may be swayed by the outside world are more likely to start remembering
things from their past, but those who are never swayed, grow stronger and know
only their Urandrum blood.
-Urandrum Law-
The primary purpose of the Urandrum is to protect the IV Marakain Beasts, and
to keep secret their existence and location. There are many things Urandrum
should never do, in order to protect themselves, more like common sense
things, i. e. fall prey to human emotions, give knowledge as to the true
nature of their being, etc... The Urandrum only have ONE Law: No Urandrum is
permitted to breed outside their race. This will lessen the power of the
collective bloodline, creating weakness and enabling the potential for the
discovery of the beasts. The penalty for such is death.
-The Royals-
Within the Urandrum bloodline, there is a “Royal Family“ of sorts. This
Royalty includes a ruling King and Queen, as well as a named successor to
each title. The current King is King Xuchilbara Ophiel, and the Queen is
Queen Shalak Aandaro. The King and Queen are not married to each other, and
have mates either through marriage or their own volution. Just because an
Urandrum may be born to the King or Queen does NOT make them Royalty. The
only other Royals are the named successors to Xuchilbara and Shalak. ONLY
those Urandrum bred naturally are eligible for succession. Converts are
not eligible. The current successor to Queen
Shalak Aandaro is Akar-sha Uourine.
Since King Xuchilbara became the first Urandrum, created by the Beasts
themselves, he has yet to name a successor to his throne. It is speculated
that he favors either Trajan Vanko, or Radu Haji but it is merely
speculation.
