-Message Board/Forum Role-Playing-

Board & Chat Role-Play Co-exist: There is absolutely no difference between the events that happen within a message board and a chat room storyline. This is very important. Players must understand that whatever happens to any character on a message board still applies in a chat room.

For example:

You are role-playing a storyline in a message board/forum and in that storyline your character sustained a wound of some sort. When and if you take that same character out into a chat room, the events still exist exactly how they happened while in the board.

Message Board:

~Seria travels a long corridor that leads into an empty room of the tower in which she has never seen before. Upon entering, she hears a strange noise. Startled, she turns to see behind her, but no one is there. A bit more cautious, Seria continues her search for clues to the missing child reported in the tower earlier in the day. She takes to a large oak desk, quietly rummaging through a stack of old yellowed papers laden with dust. The strange noise; much like the sound of leaves being scattered by the wind, scares her as it becomes louder, less distant than it was before. Before she has a chance to investigate, a great wind knocks her from her feet. She tumbles, hitting her head on the corner of the desk. Only when she feels that the mysterious threat has gone, does she notice there is blood dripping from the gash on her forehead.~
Oh great, this is definitely going to scar.

Later in the day in a chat room:

Seria enters the main hall casually, her head still throbbing from her misfortune hours ago. The gash on her head has since been treated with ointment.
Damion says: Where did you get that nasty wound?
Seria looks at Damion a bit frustrated. She brings her fingers up to the wound and gives him a little shrug
Seria says: I fell and hit my head on a desk.

How To Role-Play on a Board: Look at the message board example above again. You will notice that Seria uses a ~ symbol at the beginning and ending of each of her actions, and changes the color of her font, to show where she is speaking. You do not have to do it this way because most role-players have their own unique styles (Most members in TWORP type our storylines out much like you would read it in a book, rather than using such symbols.). As long as it is readable and easy for others to understand what are actions and what is dialogue, you may choose to do it any way that you wish. Sometimes, when you include a third party, such as a DC character, you may want to use a different color of font for that character’s dialogue so that those reading your post will not become confused as to who is saying what.

What NOT to do:

1)... Never us acronyms, abbreviations or emoticons in a role-play post, ever.

2)... The only time that the use of OOC (out of character) is allowed in a role-play post is when a player needs to briefly make note to other players, something in the storyline that is significant to its progress. For instance, the storyline is to be continued in another post. And, of course, these brief OOC inserts must always be in OOC brackets. The player may state the continuation, followed by the appropriate link to the other post. OOC is not allowed to engage in any OOC conversation whatsoever. When the OOC is to end up in conversation, players must go into their screen name accounts and head to the OOC board!
