-Character Behavior & Dialogue-As it is with setting and character portrayal, the way that a character acts and speaks in any storyline can make or break the environment for all players involved. Are we being utterly ridiculous? Are we going too far with all of these 'standards'? If you think so, then ask yourself these questions? 1)...When you watch a great historical movie like 'Gladiator', 'King Arthur' or 'Braveheart', do the characters act or speak like modern-day Americans? 2)...Did Maximus use 'slang', or William Wallace 'hit on girls' with cheesy pick-up lines? 3)...In 'The Lord of the Rings', did Arwen act like a spoiled drama queen, pulling aside her popular friends to spread Jr. High gossip? The point is obvious. Understand that in TWORP the characters should act and speak like they would from the particular time period they are in, and also from where they were born and raised. Of course, not everything has to be exact. It is freeform after all, but always do your best to play your characters as you would be directed to play him or her if you were cast as that character in a movie. Remember, you are playing a character, you are not playing yourself and if you feel like you would prefer to play a more modernized character, then
TWORP is not the place for that. © Copyright 2006 - 2009 J.A. Redmerski/Serenesta - All rights reserved.www.theworldofroleplay.com |
