Tripathi Rua was chosen by King Xuchilbara Ophiel only six-hundred years ago
because she showed great promise in her leadership abilities. But also, Tripathi
was—and remains—the one Urandrum that all other Urandrum demons look up to as a
mother, and she is known as such. They trust her and though they fear her, they
do not fear her in the way they fear the Royals. Tripathi is considered to show
certain human emotions: compassion and caring, but she only shows such emotions
to other Urandrum. Out in the Marakai towards all other beings, Tripathi can be
as cruel and cold-hearted as the any of the other Urandrum. And like the others,
she too is quite powerful. Aside from the natural Urandrum abilities, she also
has the Empathy ability, Mind Blast and Projection. The Projection ability alone
(the ability to make her thoughts become reality) sets her apart and even higher
than most Urandrum, because she is one of very few that have it. And she can use
this ability to immense scale and accuracy.
Tripathi is not only called ‘The Mother’ for how she treats other Urandrum, but
she was also the one that birthed the ‘Vada’een sha rua’, meaning ‘twins a
century apart’. The twins—both females—were born on the same day, at the same
time, but one hundred years apart. They looked exactly alike and even bore the
same distinctive markings on their left breast: a scar-like marking shaped like
the speared-end of a Urandrum’s tail. The twins were also born already having
their Urandrum wings, the only Urandrum ever to be born with them rather than
having to work for them over generations of time. The Urandrum world saw the
twins as Gods, even still today many of them do, even though the twins died on
the same day at the same time, from the same affliction—of all things, poison,
in which no other Urandrum can be affected by.
Tripathi hardly ever leaves the Underground World. She has only seen the outside
world approximately three times in her six hundred years of life. But Tripathi
quite enjoys the outside. The only reason she rarely sees it is because of her
devoted duties as Mother to the Urandrum. Tripathi is also one of the most
skilled when it comes to healing the tainted minds of converted Urandrum that
appear to be falling victim to human emotions. When it comes to Urandrum that
are not pure blood, their vulnerabilities to human emotions are greater than
those who are pure blood. And every now and then when one has become
‘forgivingly’ tainted, Tripathi is called upon to right this wrong before the
taint spreads and the Urandrum must be executed. But Tripathi has had to even
revert a couple pure bloods in her lifetime, those that were in contact with the
outside world too much, thus opening them up to ‘the taint’.
