-Toran Demons-

The Toran are ‘the damned’. Unlike most demons, Toran demons have no souls because they sold theirs to the Archons to become demons. They were once humans, who after death in the material world, could not pass into the Realm of Light and were sentenced to the Marakai. They may have been evil in their human life, or they may have become lost or tormented souls. The Toran are ‘essence feeders’ (essence feeder – a being that feeds from the essence of humans. After a feeding, the human temporarily loses the ability to feel certain emotions, which can last for up to three days) and they are ‘the tempters’. Toran demons are masters of temptation and manipulation, constantly persuading others to commit acts of sin and even to sale their souls. The souls they acquire, they take back to the Archons—or, sometimes keep them for themselves. The Archons know they are not entirely loyal.

The Toran demons have a unique ability. They can become invisible, in which is the time they do most of their work. These demons once only tempted humans in a mental and spiritual sense, but since the opening of the Marakian dimension, their impact on the temptations of the world is a more personal one. Now, while invisible, a Toran demon may be sitting right next to you, whispering temptations in your ear and you would never know it.

These demons typically reveal only one of two forms. Never do they appear entirely human. Their secondary form appears human, but their tiny red horns are always visible. Their primary form is their full demon form, in which can sometimes appear quite frightening. They have a small wingspan that only enables them to glide, rather than fly, and they are twice as large as when in their secondary form. A Toran demon rarely reveals his demon form in the presence of others unlike him. In this form, his skin appears burnt.

The Toran are often cruel and almost always unpredictable. Rarely does one ever think of anyone but himself, and even when it appears he is concerned about the welfare of another, it likely means there might be something in it for him.
