Mordred claims to be a direct descendent of Azeet Nephthys herself, an audacious claim to some. Mordred states that he is the most closely linked to the Nephthys Goddessout of any of the bloodline alive today, and thus believe himself to be the “Elder” and “Ruler” of the Nephthys. He believes this despite the fact that he is not the oldest Nephthys alive… A known fact to all. Yet none has ever challenged Mordred on this claim to date, though many speak boldly of him behind his back.
Many other Nephthys speak of the fact that Mordred was a traitor to his country while a mere human. A soldier for his Emperor, that simply walked away when they needed him most. It was a time of great expansion on the parts of the three great Empires, with bloodshed at every front. Yet for some unknown reason he turned his back on his Emperor and General, allowing the battalion he was part of to be decimated by the enemy in a surprise attack he helped orchestrate. Mordred knew well that after his betrayal he could never return across the sea to his homeland, instead staying in the arid lands of the Empire he aided.
It was a short time after this betrayal that Mordred was embraced by a vampire, though he never speaks directly of it. Mordred had never been seen with his sire, and until almost a decade ago had never been seen in the consistent company of one vampire as is the typical Nephthys way. It was then that Mordred had chosen his companion. A young, beautiful Grecian woman he had found running from a vineyard while he was gallivanting around with a number of other Nephthys. It was when he had chosen this woman as his companion that his whole life was thrown into turmoil…
Shortly after he took the girl as his own, she somehow managed to sneak away from him just before sunrise. By awakening at sunset, he was alarmed to find not one vampire at his side, but two. The girl later related that the other woman was her mother, and pleaded for him to allow her to live. Mordred found it an abomination that the girl had embraced her mother, having just been turned herself a mere few days before that. It was certain that the girl’s mother would be a weak vampire… possibly too weak to survive.
Yet somehow, the girl managed to convince Mordred to allow her to live. Since then, there had been a number of times where he debated on rendering her and her incessant mother to ash. Yet for some reason, he can never bring himself to do so. Each time he thinks of it, something about the girl sways his judgment, as if a whisper in his ear telling him it’s not truly what he would want.
