Guiliana is the third eldest of a family of seven children, of which she had two older brothers, three younger sisters, and one younger brother. She grew up on a vineyard in Greece, about a week’s travel from Athens by carriage. Despite the fact that she was the third born, she grew up feeling more like the eldest, as her eldest brother was ten years older than her, and joined the army when she was only eight. Her second eldest brother was feeble minded, and could barely feed himself. Much of the time the responsibility to feed, bathe, and care for her brother rested solely on Guiliana. Yet she never once resented her brother for it. However, her feelings toward her eldest brother were much different.
As a child, Guiliana felt abandoned when her brother left, as it solely fell upon her to care for her older brother while her father tended the vineyard and her mother cared for her four younger siblings. She attained what education she could in her spare time, as she was able to sneak away her younger sibling’s books and listen to their lessons. Guiliana had learned enough before her brother’s departure that she could at least read, and luckily for her, she was able to learn from the books easily. However, she never received the education that her younger sisters and brother received.
Two years after her brother had left Guiliana’s father had died when a bout of the plague swept across the lands. Additionally, her younger brother and one of her younger sisters succumbed to the disease. After that, Guiliana’s mother had to assume control of the vineyard and all the responsibilities of running it. Now in addition to her older brother, this left Guiliana as the caretaker to her two younger sisters. She had to grow up far too quickly, and as she grew into adulthood, she came to resent her brother for resting so much responsibility upon her.
This resentment grew as she came to learn from her mother what had become of her eldest brother… As his whereabouts remained a secret within the household. Yet somehow, Guiliana began to find it increasingly easy to convince her mother to speak of anything she wished to know.
In fact, as Guiliana grew up, she found out that with just a little bat of her eye, a certain smile, and a few choice words, she could convince almost ANYONE in town or on the vineyard to tell her what she needed to know. What she did not know, was that she was actually an Advanced Human, much as her eldest brother was. Guiliana had somehow inherited the ability of Mind Control, and mixed with a little seduction she was able to use that power on those whom she set her sights upon. The trait did not work on everyone however, which she found out about six years ago.
It was then that something had occurred within the lands Guiliana and her family called home, when bandits began to regularly raid the vineyard and surrounding lands. Yet there was something different about the men that led these marauders and mercenaries… Something about their faces and the way that they moved that made them seem almost inhuman. And it was during one of these raids of the vineyard that Guiliana’s talent to convince others to do her will caught the sight of one of the leaders of the mercenaries.
Guiliana had convinced a number of raiding mercenaries that there was nothing within their home worth taking, and raider after raider, the men turned away and left the vineyard, utterly convinced that there was nothing there they desired. Eventually she had convinced enough of the raiders that they no longer attempted to ransack the home that her mother and family sought refuge in. But this did not keep the leaders of the bandits away.
In fact it intrigued one particular leader even more.
One evening, the bandits returned… However this time the raiders were not compromised of mercenaries, but the hellish creatures that moved with inhuman grace. As had worked numerous times before, Guiliana did her best to try to convince them with her feminine whiles that they were not worth the effort. Yet her power to convince them did not work.
In a moment of desperation, Guiliana yelled out to her mother and siblings to get out of the home, then turned and ran in the opposite direction she knew they would be going. At first she was convinced that the raiders were following her, but when she was finally caught in one of the distant vineyards she realized that it was but one of the creatures that had been chasing her.
It was early that night that Guiliana was embraced as a Vampire, by Mordred Nephthys.
Guiliana was kept from seeking out her family for a number of days, but soon found the time to steal away from her Sire in the wakening hours of the morning, before the sun broke. She then followed the trail her family left, though it was not a trail she hoped for.
First Guiliana had found the body of her older, feeble minded brother, drained of all blood with a mark upon his neck that Guiliana was now all too familiar with. This revelation was followed by the body of one of her sisters, and then the sight of her mother clutching the pale body of her youngest sister. With a halted breath Guiliana had moved to gaze upon her mother, whom she assumed to be dead. However she was startled to find that her mother, though on the brink of death, was still breathing.
With only the thought of saving her mother in mind, Guiliana replicated the process which Mordred had taken with her a few nights before. Guiliana managed to save her mother’s life, though at a price that she was unaware of. Guiliana then returned to her Sire’s side, with her mother, before the day broke. It was one of the only days where Guiliana slept soundly in her vampyric sleep.
When her Sire awoke to find not just Guiliana at his side, but her mother as well, Mordred was on the verge of doing away with the both of them. However, upon her knees Guiliana was able to convince Mordred not to alight her mother in flames, which was already beginning to form blisters upon her face from within. Much in the way she convinced the marauders that there was nothing they wanted, Guiliana manipulated Mordred’s mind to think that he truly did not want to kill either of them… That in fact he wanted the both of them.
Guiliana had been able to use her inherent ability to almost control Mordred’s mind… To convince him, at least momentarily, that he wanted the exact opposite of what was truly in his heart. However, this time, Guiliana realized precisely what she was doing, as well as what she could be capable of. The vampyric gifts she inherited from her Sire had enhanced her ability of Mind Control, so much so in her first days as a vampire that she could sway one who was centuries older then her.
And this power is still growing to this day, as well as her resentment toward her eldest brother for allowing this to have happened to his own family. It is Guiliana’s goal now to seek revenge upon her brother, holding him and only him responsible for the deaths of her siblings, as well as the state of their Mother.
