Set Me on Fire
« on: August 26, 2015, 10:02:33 AM »
Continued from Still of the Night

Upon arrival back in Tonug, Desyte was in no mood to listen to the constant chattering of the women that had somehow duplicated from one voice to two. Noelani was one thing… he could deal with her. She proved useful. But the other? Absolutely useless thus far.

This culminated in Desyte sending a firm hand to lay across the side of Kali’s face upon her not falling silent. Gritting his teeth, he would grab her by the shirt and jerk her forward, his face against hers. “I have no qualms with ending you, so I suggest you learn your place and prove useful less you wind up like every other worthless whore I’ve encountered.”

His words would seethe as he tossed her to the ground then, moving away without care as to a reaction. Desyte would glare at Noelani then, “I suggest you take care of this,” he would state simply before walking off.

Again, her face came into contact with his hand.  Kali took a deep breath and turned black eyes to him.  Her skin crawled and her scalp tingled as the rage built up in her like a beast demanding to come out.  She had never known such furry and as the bastard walked off, she turned the black as night eyes to Noelani.

What the hell is wrong with you?  Why the hell do you stay around this piece of shit?  It isn't hard to just get the fuck up and walk away, Noelani.  What the fuck are you doing?  What damn pleasure are you getting out of attempting to destroy so many lives?  Are you that hard up for a man that you have to go to such measures to keep his attention?

They were all rhetorical questions.  Kali didn't really give a shit.  Noelani was nothing to her.  If she wanted to be with the abusive prick, that was on her.  But, whatever sick twisted game these two was playing, they could go at it alone.  She continued to stare at Noelani, wondering about her.  For a moment, she felt a little sad that she didn't know the girl really.  She didn't know not one thing about her, especially how she came to be with this lunatic.  Her black eyes moved to the direction Desyte had walked off to and her forehead wrinkled up in confusion about their relationship.  Again, she looks to Noelani before whispering

You may care for him, but he could give a fuck less about you.   You're nothing but a pawn, my dear.

With a smirk, Kali walked off as well, in another direction.  Who the hell knew where she was going, but that is what she did...she wandered around....

Noelani was mentally drained.  She watched the scene before her unfold with disdain.  Her cool steel eyes not really making eye contact with either of them.  She had jumped a bit when the slap had happened, the sound echoing in the otherwise silent atmosphere.  Then Kali whirled around on her with her demanding questions, but it was clear she didn't want an answer and then she was walking off and yet still Noelani just stood there with a cold stare and slumped shoulders.  Her steel gray eyes glaring at the dirty boots on her feet.  They were really good questions.  How had she got sucked into all of this and why does she feel this need to vengeance so badly?  She was a lost soul, and Desyte just felt right.  She took some sick pleasure in the control he has over her.  It was like she needed to be controlled to feel alive.  It was, in fact, the only time she was alive.  The slaps and the shoves did nothing but energize her.  His control awakens the part of her that made her want to do the bad things that seem to make her soul happy.

Noelani felt no regret for the things she has done.  She mourned the losses, respectfully so, but this was like a drug and she was truly addicted.  A shiver ran through her body, making her bring her hands up to rub her arms, her nails raking down the bare flesh of her arms leaving nasty red marks.  Her mouth twitched with a smile at the feeling.  As her eyes refocused, Noelani continued to stand there lost in thought.  Kali was right she could walk away at any time.  What if she did?  What would come of her?  It wasn't that she wanted it.  It was that she felt she maybe needed to.  Kali was right, Desyte didn't care and it angered her that it bothered her that he didn't.  However, she couldn't just walk away from him, he wouldn't let her.  She was his pawn, and he needed her.  She had to play his game and wait until the chance presented itself.  After he got what he wanted, there would be absolutely nothing holding her to him at that point, and then she could leave.  She would help him kill the the bloodline...his bloodline.  It would end with him. Yes, she had some of the bloodline, but it was faint and she knew she wouldn't create offspring and honestly she didn't see herself living through this either.  She was on a suicide mission.

Maybe that is why Noelani believed in his cause so much.  Tainted, mixed up bloodlines was something she knew so much about.  He wasn't tainted, but she was.  He was pure, which made it obvious he needed to go as well.  He had enlisted her to help his cause, and help she would do.  She'd bring them all down including him and if she survived, she'd walk away without regret.  At that thought, she felt a tightening in her stomach followed by an aching in her heart.  Quickly, she frowned and pushed feelings aside.  Feelings get you no where.  In life, it was better to have no attachments.  No relationships.  No real family.  No children.  Those things bring you down.  Those things keep you away from your goals.  Her mother was living proof of that.  Dizzy being human and around so many unlike her had been a dangerous mix.  Her mother was strong, but not where her heart was concerned.  She had messed up relationships that produced messed up children.  There was no room in Noelani's life for silly feelings and getting attached to anyone, including family.  This bloodline was cursed and needed to go.

She was really messed up in the head, the more time that passes, the more she realizes it.  It had always been there, but it just took Desyte to bring it out in her.  The feeling she felt when the dagger had been thrust into her sister was explosive.  Could she do it to her own mother though?  The woman that gave birth to her.  Really that was all she had done, give birth to her.  She hadn't been there when she was growing up much.  She was always chasing her own demons.  If Noelani was normal and had children, would she have been a better mother than her own?  Possibly so, but it wasn't something she would ever get to experience.  Was that why Noelani was so messed up?  Not only did she have Mommy issues, but she had Daddy issues as well and all because of this damn bloodline.  Yes, it was very evident that no more offspring need to pop up, thus the ones that live must die, especially the pure ones.  But it wasn't like that was something she could control, so she just had to act quickly and play into Desyte's game for now.  They had wasted enough time and now she felt there was none to waste, but she couldn't be too eager or else he would become suspicious.  She had to keep him busy with the plan and on track.

Killing her sister had been intoxicating and Desyte being there had made it nothing but pure ecstasy.  That couldn't happen anymore.  From now on, she will have to work alone.  She will have to convince him it's better that he not be there.  She can't have him as a distraction because ultimately, he's going to be the one she brings down last and then it will end.

Noelani dropped her hands down and smirked recalling him telling her to take care of it.  Her eyes moved in the direction that Kali had went.  Looks like it took care of itself.  She wasn't going to waste time with Kali.  That wasn't the blood she was after.

Desyte didn’t stick around to see what would come of the interaction between Kali and Nolani. Truth be told, Desyte wasn’t even sure who the hell Kali was, what her relationship with Noelani was, and why the hell she was even here. Whether that information had been divulged previously was up in the air, but as it was of no consequence to Desyte, he did not listen even if it had. All he knew was the wench was in the way and a liability.

If Noelani didn’t take care of it, Desyte would have no problem doing so himself – or having Grendel do it. Though the coward hadn’t shown his face since Paris.

Gritting his teeth, Desyte made his way through the corridors and up to the tower, his fingers intertwining with the bit of hair he had managed to swipe off of Lance’s dreadlocked hair. He would never understand dreads… such a sign of filth and lack of hygiene. Perhaps that’s where the filth of the bloodline came from – the Vitiosus side. His so called “Uncles” – Lance being the only one that has made a stand in this battle. Whatever happened to the other twin was anyone’s guess… But Desyte would certainly have to hunt him down if the task were to be completed.

Desyte rounded the corner and entered into what could only be called a laboratory, the cauldron in the center of the room bubbling its poisonous glow. A dim green light emanated from it, lighting his face from underneath as he moved past it to one of the tables set up with various glass beakers, tools, and baubles. Placing the dread on the table he grabbed a knife and began to slice it in pieces.

With a cringe, he muttered, “Time to extract the essence of Lance…” Desyte couldn’t help it, he shuddered a little bit. He only hoped that the demon he was with, Rielia… Amon’s creation… was suffering a slow death from the wound inflicted upon her.

Noelani snapped out of her trance.  She wasn't sure how long she had been standing there, but everyone had made their way to their destination.  Sighing, Noelani started making her way in the same direction as Desyte.  She had to pull herself together to face him so that they could continue.  It wasn't hard to location him, she simply followed the all to familiar scent of him.  Slowly, she moved into the room after seeing him.  Her actions were deliberate and cautious, not because of fear or to keep from disturbing him, but to give herself time to put up her defenses against him.  She had to set herself in a different frame of mind if she was going to do this, but she had to do it well enough to where he doesn't know.  She had to be fake, something she has never had to be before.

Coming to stand beside the table filled with the various things he needed, Noelani reached a hand down and brushed a beaker filled with a blackish liquid off the table making the glass shatter as it landed hard on the floor, the black liquid spilling out making a grayish mist rise up.  Noelani turned mischievous eyes to Desyte, a smirk on her face.

The bubbling of the liquid in the cauldron behind him was the only sound he heard as he scraped at the disgusting dread, breaking it into smaller pieces and placing them aside. He would then begin to pull liquids, beakers, chemicals, tonics, and other ingredients here and there... closer and to the side, mixing this and mixing that so that he had about a dozen different beakers filled with different colored liquids that would pull the essences needed for the poison.

This distraction had allowed for Noelani to all but sneak up on him, the sound of the beaker crashing to the ground causing him to dart his eyes to her with malice. His jaw visibly clenched, fists tightening as he did his hardest to restrain from slapping her.

And why did he restrain himself? That was a good question... He had no problem slapping the other woman. And it's not like he hadn't laid a hand upon Noelani before.

"Do you WANT the collar back... with a matching pair of bracelets?" he would ask. "Or are you going to continue being careless and set us back another hour?"

Desyte would glare at her a moment, then turn away from her and grab another beaker to replace the one she broke.

"Did you take care of the other problem?"

Of course he hoped a yes answer would mean she killed the girl, but he truthfully didn't have that much faith in Noelani to have done so. She still had weaknesses.

In the seconds that followed, Noelani's heart was racing in anticipation to his reaction.  She feared him, yes.  She always had, but she was composed and calm as she watched the expression in his face that told her he was trying to control his anger.  This made her brows furrow in confusion, but that could have easily been interpreted as her considering his question.  Why wasn't he lashing out?  Why wasn't he yelling and threatening her?  Why was he controlling himself?

Noelani had to play this part well.   She had to succeed at this.  Pushing away from the table, she stepped over behind him and raised a trembling hand to his back, thankful that he couldn't see it.  She let her long fingers dance across one of his shoulders before making a trail down his back before both hands made their way up to his waist.  Pressing her front side against his back, she laid her head on what she could reach of his shoulder, inhaling deeply.  His scent was so intoxicating and she became dizzy.  Closing her eyes for a moment, she felt a pain deep in her that she quickly pushes down.  She could do this.  Opening her eyes once more, she turned her lips into his neck.  The only thing that touched him was her warm breath as she answered him in a soft voice.

"The problem took care of itself, Desyte.  We don't need to waste time on her.  We will not benefit from it.  If anything, it will slow us down.  Relax...."

Her hands tightened on his waist, her long nails digging into his flesh through his shirt.  She kept telling herself that she could do this.  Over and over in her head and yet she kept breathing him in and was quickly getting lost.  Abruptly, she let go of him and took a step back.  Running her hands through her hair, she balls them into fists.  If she could have screamed, she would have.  She'd have to keep her distance from him, or she'd loose herself and her goal would never be accomplished.

Dropping her hands down, she turned away from him, her eyes scanning everything.  Grabbing a vial that was full of the same black liquid she had knocked off, Noelani then grabbed an empty replacement beaker.  Removing the lid she pours the fowl smelling black liquid in the beaker to replace what was spilled.  She then slid it over to him before grabbing a nearby knife.

"I know what it was missing...."

Turning her arm over she brings the tip of the knife to her forearm and slashes a deep gash, the blood instantly running from the wound.  Placing the knife between her teeth, she grabs an empty vial, placing it on the table.  After bring her arm up to it she flips it over so that the blood is dropping a steady stream into the vial.  Now dark gray eyes look up to Desyte and she speaks softly after removing the knife from her mouth and laying it back down on the table....

"It needed a piece of her...."

The touch... the touch was not something he needed. The feel of her fingers dancing upon his back, wrapping around his waist caused tingles to course down his spine, settling in a very inconspicuous place that was thankfully blocked by the table he worked at. His grip upon the equipment he was using tightened, but he did his best to not react and break them – though part of him wanted to do so, turn around, and either take her or slap her to the floor right there.

But now was not the time... Now was the time to exert his authority, showing her that while they were partners in this, they were not really on equal ground.  Her statement that they didn't need to waste time on her grated on his nerves, and her grip about his waste, the hot breath on his neck – it was a mixture of intoxication and fury.

Her statement caused him to slam down what he was holding, turning his gaze in her direction at her statement to relax, "I cannot relax... when you persist in refusing to obey my commands... The bitch is a loose end..." he seethed. "And I do not like loose ends."

He then had dropped her hands down, looking through the vials and liquids, proceeding to watch her as she placed her own blood in the vial, stating it needed a piece of her. What a narrowing of his eyes, he stepped forward and took the vial in his hands, moving it away from her so she didn't break yet another piece of work.

Stepping forward, he looked down at her, his body inches from her. "She is a liability... reckless... and a loose end..." he hissed at her. "When I say take care of it... you know what I expect you to do," he continued. He took a step closer to her, causing her to back up as he approached, his other hand splaying out on something on the table, crimson darkness swirling around his hand as he continued to speak. "Yet you insist on not listening..." his hand would then come up to place upon her face, gentle, falling down her cheek, over her neck, and trailing softly down her form. As he did this, his other hand began to grip the hilt of a weapon... summoned to him from the ether – a crimson blade, one that his family easily summoned, though his blade had a touch more black in it than crimson.

As his hand felt to her waist, he grasped her side and pulled him against her, pressing his body to hers with one swift motion that saw him raise the blade to her neck, pressing against it with enough force that blood would begin to trickle from the location in a matter of moments. "Tell me..." he whispered softly, leaning closer to her, close enough to kiss her but he did not. "Do you want to be punished? Do you think this is all some.... game?"

Noelani wasn't sure what type of reaction she had anticipated from him.  She hadn't even really thought it out.  At this point she was acting on pure emotion and determination.  What she did know, is at this point, she didn't fear him or anything.  She was in this till the end, and if that meant she died, then so be it. Why did he have to touch her though?  The hand on her face was nearly her undoing.  Her eyes fluttered shut for a brief second and she held her breath.  Noelani had this just as long as he kept his hands to himself.  When he didn't, it was like electricity coursing through her.  It was unlike anything she'd ever known and she hated it.  Maybe that was the one thing she did fear.  Maybe she had been lying to herself.  She was scared of the things he made her feel.  That had been Dizzy and Lucian's weakness.  Their blasted emotions and disgusting devotion to one another.  Had it always been like that between them, or did it happen when Dizzy became pregnant with herself and her sister?

Noelani had no where to back up to since the table was there and he was all around her.  Reaching her arms down, she gripped the table to steady herself as he got closer, invading her space and her senses.  She could feel her blood flowing down her arm from the wound, dripping down her fingers, but she didn't care.  Steel gray eyes glared at him, not an ounce of fear radiated from her.  Her mouth was set in a firm line, you could see the tick tick of her clinched jaw as she fought hard not to spit in his face.  The closeness was a bit much still, but she fought back every urge she had to let it get to her.  Then he pulled her to him and she couldn't help the shudder that went through her body, making her legs weak.
Her grip tightened on the table, the tension in her arm making the blood come out even more.  With her chest rising and falling with her heavy breathing as she tried to calm herself she listened to his question.  A perfectly arched brow shot up and a smirk crossed her face and she spoke softly

"Desyte, you are a loose end yourself..."

A cold sardonic smile crossed her face now.   She was pushing limits she had never pushed before.  The uncharted territory was dangerous and deadly, but she didn't care.  She wasn't the meek little creature he had caged and trapped before.  She was a product of his creation and now he had to learn to deal with her.  She wanted to push him away, especially as she spied the blade out of the corner of her eye, but she stood her ground...well...the best she could in this situation.  It was clear she didn't think this was a game.

Noelani had to keep reminding herself why she was doing this.  In the end, they would all be gone, probably herself included.  The Malefice bloodline had to die.  There could be no more.  She didn't care if it was an elder or a baby, they all had to die.  She couldn't loose sight of that.  He would see right through her though if she kept defying him.  She had to be the Noelani he was used to.  A scared little kitten afraid of her shadow, but curious at the same time and with a blood lust that only came alive when he provoked it.  She had already messed up.  She had to be smarter about it.

Coyly, she brought her clean hand up to rest on his chest as she looked up to him towering over her, as her hand covered in her own blood still gripped the table to steady herself.  She titled her head to the side as she played with his shirt, her eyes focusing on his chest now as she spoke softly again, but this time more submissively and even a little whiny.

"You're right though...it's...just...we always do it together, Desyte..."

She brings her bloodied hand up and licks at her finger as she looks back up at him.  Once it was clean, she dropping it to his chest with her other hand.

"It just didn't seem like it would be any fun without you watching me like you did with my daft sister.  I thought we was in this together and by together I want you to watch me do everything.  Don't you want to see their undoing? .."

She smiled softly, innocently.  She was being sincere.  She had totally got off before on all the carnage.  The only difference now was he needed to keep his hands to himself.  It was bad for her to let him even touch her, but she needed him there to watch everything she does so that she can keep an eye on him.  If he killed her first...well...she'd be dead and it didn't matter.

It was taking everything he had in himself not to draw the blade against her skin, instead keeping it firmly pressed against her neck. A part of him wanted to place his lips against hers, lap away the blood that was trickling from her arm and soon from her neck, but the defiant look in her eye and the tightness of her jaw was enough to draw his focus away from those frenzied feelings of lust. His breathing was more calm than hers, though he could feel the rise and fall of her chest against him. When she finally parted those lips to speak, her words only caused more aggravation... which was probably a good thing.

Raising his chin, he looked down upon her coldly, now threatening to slit her throat with the blade by the manner with which he was holding it. Desyte clenched his teeth as he imagined it... slicing the blade through the delicate skin of her neck, blood gushing out as her heart beat what would be it's final frantic beats. Surely it would make a mess, with blood spattered about the lab and completely covering him. But it wouldn't matter... not in the end.

A loose end or not, Desyte was not a loose cannon... and it was lucky for Noelani that she followed that up with confirmation that he was right. This caused him to release the pressure on the blade, his gaze losing some of it's intensity as she commented about how they always did "it" together. While that was true... Noelani had yet to kill anyone without him there... something about the way she said it stirred an unsettling feeling in his gut.

Desyte listened as she continued, describing how it wouldn't be fun if he wasn't there to watch. Desyte couldn't deny that it was immensely enjoyable to watch her as she had plunged that dagger into her sister. But something was dawning on Desyte, and inside he wasn't sure if he liked that. She was dependent upon him... as if she could not do such things on her own, not without him to influence her. While she played it off like she just wanted him to be there, for them to be equals in this... that wasn't the case.

It never would be the case.

But Desyte would never share that... nor would he voice his dislike of her dependency.

As she finally asked if he wanted to see their undoing, he replied. "I want nothing more." And with those words he finally succumbed to their closeness and lowered his lips to hers in a passionate kiss. As he did so, he lowered the blade that he had against her throat, allowing it to fade away once again from where it was summoned, his empty hand now lightly placed upon her throat. As he continued the kiss, slowly that hand would trail down her form... causing her all of the feelings that she so desperately did not want to have.

Yet within Desyte, that carnal nature wasn't as strong as it had been previously. Desyte was able to pull from the kiss, leaving her trembling and wanting more. "The next one... we will eliminate together," he would state before turning from her and reaching for the vial.
