The back room was dusty and dank, and it took a moment for Moros to get his bearings about him. Finally he managed to find the farthest corner of the store room, but it was so dark that he couldn’t detect where the cellar door was. Grumbling a bit, he fumbled around in his pocket for a lighter, finding one with his cigarettes. Lighting it, it provided just enough light to see faintly, shadows dancing off the walls. However, it was the movement of the flame that was of more interest.

The small flame flickered in a way that you knew there was a small breeze to his front right corner. Moving in that direction, it was only a matter of minutes before he found the large trapdoor that led to the cellar. Pulling it open, he began to descend down the stairs.

If there was one thing you could always count on in dank, dusty, old buildings… it was that it would have a cellar of some sort to keep the booze that needed to be kept at a certain temperature. This old building was no dfferent – except that Moros really felt as if the temperature down here was actually a bit warmer than it was above.

Little did he know it was actually due to the proximity of The First, causing the temperature of his blood to rise ever so slightly with every movement it took closer to him.

Moros, was blissfully ignorant of that fact though – instead just moving deeper and deeper into the cellar. There were no lights, only the dim light of his lighter as he looked around, his eyes still adjusting to the darkness. He could make out boxes, barrels, and things with sheets thrown over them. But nothing of too much interest yet.

Continued from The End of the Line

Flavius had run faster than he ever thought he could have, carrying Dani in his arms as if she were the most precious cargo in the world. He headed back to where he knew Agemf, Blazed and Moros had thought to seek refuge. Despite their misgivings, Moros was still his childer by right, and he couldn’t allow him to be taken the way Criss had. They all had to escape here before they ran out of time.

The table they had rolled in front of the door did little to stop Flavius from entering, the force of a kick more than he knew he could muster. “MOROS!!!” he yelled out into the abandoned Inn. There was no sign of him, so he moved deeper into the Inn. “MOROS!!! NOW!! WE HAVEN’T TIME!!!”

A cold breeze rushed over Dani’s body as the leaves began to rustle and lash across her face. What was formerly just a gentle breeze had turned into a gust, the gentle voice urging her to the cliff to jump now screaming at her as her eyes grew wide, tensing.

She didn’t like this anymore, not one bit… Backtracking as she felt the edge of the cliff with the back of her heals.

“JUMP!!!” the voice would scream at her, the trees closing in, pushing… and then there was no more ledge to back up on. One more strong gust and another slap of the leaves and Dani fell backwards, darkness swirling around her as the ledge darted up high above her.

Seeking refuge... that was what he was doing because that was what he was told to do. Deep in the cellar he could have sworn he heard someone call his name, but he brushed it off as just odd sounds of the cellar. But then he heard it again and he knew it was Flavius returning. His gaze darted back to look where he had come from, and he began to move swiftly through the cellar to return to the stairs.

Shortly he emerged again to see Flavius holding the frail body of Dani that clearly wasn't all there anymore. She was blistered and he knew they had gotten too close to harms way. "What do we do?!" he asked, reaching out to take Dani in his own arms so Flavius could be free to do whatever he needed to ensure their safety.

When Moros emerged from the cellar a sense of slight relief came over Flavius. At least he was safe... for now. He allowed him to scoop Dani into his arms, immediately turning and looking around to see if there was anything resembling potential safety here. "Is there an escape route in the cellar?" he would ask, only to see Moros shake his head indicating there wasn't.

The First was close – and they had to get out.

Flavius would return to Moros and take Dani back in his arms, knowing he was stronger, and Moros needed the chance to be unburdened so he could travel faster. "Lets go."

Flavius would turn toward the door, knowing there was only one way out of here, and the trek out of danger would be a treacherous one. "Quickly! Come on! We haven't time!"

There was nothing any longer but darkness enveloping her. She was slipping, hanging on by just a thread. Her body was worn and weak, and if she didn't get the sustenance she needed to heal soon she would certainly perish. All she could do now was wait to see if there was life after death... or if there were nothing.

Going out the front door would be like going into a hornets nest.... well, not really, cause hornets are a hive and there'd be a bunch of them and in this situation it was just one foe. But that foe could attack in any kind of manner, without even laying eyes upon them. That was evident by the boils on Dani... Moros wondered how she was even still alive.

Moros moved quickly following Flavius's lead... they would have to get out of Ravenna, to somewhere safe. But where?

Perhaps they could reconnect with Brock? Brock had the sanctuary that Alcibiades had taken Demetrius to. But who's to say that plan even worked? Moros continued to feel useless, like he was being tossed about in a storm with absolutely no control over anything.
