To understand Ioan Fazze, one was first know Fazze’s parents.
His father was Leonardo Fazze, a quick and talented Roman officer from Venice
who had an appetite for books. He was at first, nothing but an Auxiliary
Soldier, almost never fighting and using the skills he had inherited from his
father, who was also a soldier. But, after two years of serving in the military,
he was finally recognized by a passing aide to the general who noticed
Leonardo’s ability to slip into crowds unnoticed and able to pick up foreign
languages easily and accurately. In fact, Leonardo could speak at that time
seven languages and several dialects of each language. The military put it to
use, and Leonardo became a spy and assassin for the Roman Military.
After several successful missions in which Leonardo went deep into cover and
stayed for as long as possible, Leonardo was able to retire at the age of thirty
and move to Nantes, France. There, he met Alidalia Neveu, a minor French Noble
in the city. Leonardo was a carefree and lighthearted man with nothing to
disappoint him, and seemingly always full of energy. It was then, at thirty two
that his son was brought into the world.
Ioan’s mother, on the other hand, was totally different. Born to the Neveu
Nobility in Nantes, she was a quiet and shy child who kept in doors due to a
very rare skin disorder, making her skin bleach white and her eyes a light red.
Alidalia was an albino. Her life, at an early age, was full of books and
education, while her father and mother kept her in doors, ashamed of what she
was. Thankfully, for her, her parents died when she was sixteen and she was
looking for a spouse so as not to be forced to marry and have some other person
take the Neveu House.
Alidalia held a ball, and who should come but Leonardo. Immediately, they hit it
off. Leonardo broke the seriousness about Alidalia and enabled her to have fun
and become adventurous. Although Leonardo was already nearly half Alidalia’s
age, Leonardo asked her hand in marriage and shortly afterward they were
married. The Neveu House became the Fazze House overnight. It was then, at
eighteen, that she gave birth to Ioan Fazze, during a dreadful blizzard in
Nantes.
Ioan was a hybrid of his mother and father. Becoming charming in a quiet way
with a seemingly bottomless pool of energy and imagination, Ioan was taught in
the best of arts, but what he loved the most was military education. His mother
and father were gone most of the time from the house, out on adventures that his
father insisted on them having. Ioan was left at home to ponder and speculate
building little models of weapons, most notably artillery weapons. He would
build tiny catapults and watch as he destroyed makeshift towns in the backyard.
As he became older, the parents realized that Ioan was a military genius teeming
with knowledge and so they sent him packing to Rome, where he joined a Roman
Military College and astounded all his teachers with his ability to imagine and
apply it to practical manners in the field. When he left the Military college,
already a Cohort in the military. He was also a military engineer and crafted
weapons for the Roman Empire and dabbled in science to find new ways to make
things better. His most notable creation was on the Catapult, which he designed
a thin hollow shell with hundreds of stone pebbles inside, pressurized so when
upon hitting the ground, the outer shell cracks and releases the pebbles.
Although a very dangerous weapon, it was never mass produced because of the
pressurizing method which was almost never achieved when making the weapon.
Ioan went on several military campaigns rising in rank until he was finally made
Legatus of the Ninth Legion, where he was sent to Northern France to protect it.
When the Marakai Dimension opened up, the Authurians were the most dreadful, and
quickly hit France and other areas. Ioan pulled his men back and was fortifying
Southern France, when Gauis Xerses Ceaser asked Ioan Fazze to reestablish Roman
control of Byzantine and to move the Ninth Legion to Constantinople.
Ioan’s plans for Byzantine is large and radical. He plans to fortify the country
from further attacks and build up a native army from the region so as to protect
itself. His loyalty is intensely focused for the Roman Empire and he plans to
make it so that Rome can last against the Marakai onslaught.
Ioan’s gaze of pure black eyes are positively beautiful and alluring. He can
captivate a crowd with his intellect and commanding air of power. When he makes
an entrance, he is sure to keep them enraptured with his words. He is a tall,
man with silky black hair that would be to him his largest vanity. He speaks
with an educational tone, that of a teacher and his men in the Ninth Legion call
him the “Pretty” General. But don’t let this fool you, beneath those obsidian
eyes is ruthless cunning and intensity that can make a weak-willed person gasp.
His genius in combat has made his enemies call him the Unconquerable General,
for he has never lost a battle and the mobility of his Legion is legendary, all
veterans who have seen combat several times, many gifted as Advanced Humans from
fighting Marakine demons or being born with the gifts. Ioan uses these gifts to
his advantage in combat.
