-The Illimar-
-Once Heaven's Assassins-
In every race, there is always a group that seemed more fanatical and more dangerous than the rest of their kind. The Illimar is no exception. Illimar, literally translated to be "lightless or black water", was the name of a group of Angels, now Fallen, used to infiltrate and dispatch as many of the Archons as possible as they started to overwhelm not only the Marakai, but Earth as well. This led many of the Archonic Tribes to extinction. It was seldom, if ever, that the Illimar was called upon to dispatch another Angel. But 'if' is a relative and key word here. There has been linked to the Illimar, 5 possible deaths of Angels, though only one soul was cursed or blessed to return for revenge, documented.
It was long ago, before the Fall from Grace, Gabriel Samyaza was commanded to pick 13 Angels to train for such missions. Gabriel took the best and the most worthy of her Brethren and trained them, through many different means, to mask themselves in order to infiltrate the Archonic Tribes so they would not be discovered. Unfortunately for the Illimar, there was one who was not picked that was jealous of such things and forewarned the King of the Archons, King Meltuho-nyne, about this plot. For her treachery, she was cast down, then the order of Death was given. One of the possible 5 deaths of an Angel, either before or after the fall, that can be documented. And this is the only documented death of a Fallen.
Because of this act, of what was thought to be just, there was a curse bestowed upon all 14 of those involved that would set their lives into a repetitive cycle: to be reborn until at least one of the Illimar realized that what the Angel did was to stop the genocide of creatures that were needed to keep the balance. The cycle is set to repeat the souls of all 14 individuals between 100 and 200 years after their last death. To stop the cycle, the one 'wrongfully' condemned must outlive or live in unison with the 13, only killing to protect itself from another 'wrongful' death at their hands for the soul purpose of retribution or vengeance.
The 13 and their commander fell after the act of killing one of their Fallen brethren, even though they were ordered to do so. It is unknown why such an order, being followed to the letter, was given such condemnation, though if one can find and read up on the history of the Illimar, and the documented account, which none of them remember, except Commander Samyaza, it could be summarized of the means in which the Illimar exacted the order. The Wings were ripped from the Angel's body, the head was cut off and the body was defiled in the ways that suited more of the Archons that they were trying to weed thin or destroy completely. It could almost be summarized that there were regrets felt at having to kill one of their own for something done that seemed more right than wrong.
That act actually started a full on war between the Archons and the now Fallen Angels. And both numbers suffered greatly as the Angels left the lands of the Marakai weakening the numbers by at least half on the Angelic side. Now both sides suffered great losses and have took to attempting to recoup their numbers while making sure the other side doesn't gain too many.
The cycle began again about 400 years ago, less than 50 years after the death of the Angel who was condemned. What was found in most cases, was that the Illimar were not being reborn into the same families that they were a part of, though since the numbers dwindled, there were a few born within the same lineage, and only one pair born to the same parents as twins. The range in age of the reborn Illimar is between 375 and 125 years of age. The 'wronged' was reborn before the Illimar, setting the cycle in motion again.
As the Illimar were reborn, their soul was marked so that their Commander in Chief would know who they were, and the other Illimar would know each other. Make no mistake, though, there is one thing that can stop the rebirth of the Illimar from occurring a second time: the total annihilation of one gender of the purebreed of the Fallen Angels, for that would stop the procreation that would be needed to assure the rebirthing of the next souls.
The Illimar have all the same abilities as other Fallen Angels, but they have learned Grand Illusion and Mimickry well enough that they are able to stump everyone but a Seer with the equivalent of 4 Marakine Demons, with foresight, or more. That does not mean they are infoulable though. If their emotions get the better of them, good or bad, then their mask will waver enough for anything supernatural to 'see' them as Fallen Angels. Their Mimickry of a race can only be of a singular DNA strand. They cannot mimick half-breeds. They also cannot mimick beings that are more powerful than they, example, a Urandrum. They can, for example, mimick an Archon, a Toran, any of the demon races that have not crossbred, a Human, with special abilities, a Vampire, even a Lycanthrope. Also, understand that once they have chosen the creature type they plan to imitate, they cannot change. They must submerse themselves completely in the role to make themselves believe it, so others will believe it, which is part of the Mastery of Grand Illusion.
Powers: Flight (Angelic form only), Summoning, Memory Manipulation, Supernatural Speed (up to 10 times the speed of a normal human), Supernatural Strength(up to 5 times the strength of a normal human of their build), Telepathy.
Illimar added powers from Training: Grand Illusion, Mimickry (creature type), **And possibly Banishing (only if the character has a personal weapon - must be stated in profile or trained to do so in roleplay).
Roleplay notes to those who pick up a Pre-Made Illimar:
The Illimar are not all powerful creatures amongst the roleplays. Some may have attitudes that they are greater than most, but their purpose is to work against Evil, either through infiltration and destruction or through plain battle. The Illimar report to Gabriel Samyaza. That does not mean they have to get permission to kill from her if they are faced with the dilemma of killing an evil being or not, it only means that special 'hits' are ordered by she and she alone, assumably from The One, but no one knows for sure. The Illimar are not foolish beings. They have a set standard of protocol and they do not deviate too far from it. If they find an Archon that is in the middle of a crowd, they will not straightly attack, which could cause the needless deaths of those around them, unless the Archon is causing death and then it is their obligation to stop it, by any means necessary. That said, the Illimar were created and trained to have specific powers. For them to gain others, they must train to do so. They cannot just 'have a new power', unless they kill a Marakine demon to gain it, and even then, they must train to control the new power. As the Illimar are essentially neutrals, they must be careful by going this route, killing too many Marakine and gaining too many powers from demonic influence can have other effects: insanity, being the greatest, but one that is generally overlooked, is gaining too much power, and pretty much killing themselves, especially if they get two powers that are closely related, but not the same, something the Urandrum have learned. There was only ONE Illimar born outside of the Marakai, Elita Esperanza, but that is not to say that there are no Illimar that have found their way to Earth from the Marakai, this is quite possible and could very well be probable with the opening of the Marakai to Earth.
Seeking permission to play an Illimar: You need to ask one of the Moderators or the Administrator permission to take up an Illimar character. This is to make sure that the characters are not being mis-played.
