-Characteristics of Vampires-They are undead, immortal beings either cursed or gifted; whichever way each of them choose to see it, to walk the world eternally unless killed in one of only two ways possible. Vampires cannot allow the sun’s rays to penetrate their skin or they will burst into flames in an instant. The light of day and burning, are the only two ways to kill a vampire. Feeding & Inheriting Vampires; although they cannot die from starvation, they need to feed. They can eat anything that they wish, but the only way to satisfy their hunger is to feed from the blood of others—preferably humans. If they do not feed, vampires become extremely weak, leaving them vulnerable to enemies. When it comes to seeking power, vampires may feed from other powerful beings in hopes of inheriting some of their characteristics. However, not many vampires inherit such gifts, usually only the old and more experienced. Embracing Fledglings The ‘Embrace’ is how all vampires are created. The blood of the fledgling must be drained almost to the point of death and then the fledgling must drink from their Sire to give them their new life. Their old body will die, and their new undead life will restore them to the world of the living. All that one would need to do to start a new family line is to keep their own last name instead of the one their Sire passed onto them, but to do this is an act of disrespect and betrayal to the Sire. Separate families did not begin to form until about two hundred years after the foundation of the Roman republic in 509 BC. It is important to know that in TFW, vampires can only embrace humans and werewolves. Keep this in mind when playing a vampire character, or if you decide to create a character that is half vampire, half something else-there is no such thing as a 'half' vampire, except when it comes to werewolves. Supernatural Abilities & Sexual Pleasure Vampires possess many supernatural abilities and powers, most inherited from their ancestors. The most common abilities are telepathy, mind control, mind reading, flight and supernatural speed and strength. Not all vampires inherit all of these abilities, but almost all of them do, in fact, inherit supernatural speed and strength. Vampires do not have wings, but only some can fly—they call it the ‘Cloud Gift’ (term ‘Cloud Gift’ is copyright Anne Rice). Vampires cannot bear children or impregnate, they are barren and infertile. Their only children are their fledglings. Sexual pleasure is much different for vampires; they are incapable of having orgasms like other beings have. The ultimate sexual type of pleasure for a vampire is drinking from other vampires, which is called ‘bloodletting’. Two vampires sharing their blood is an act of sexual lust, even affection and love. They still engage in sexual acts just as other beings, but without the bloodletting, they can feel no ultimate pleasure. However, a human or even a demon can feel the most extraordinary sexual pleasure from vampires. When a vampire drinks from another being in an act of pleasure, the feeling can be like no other. It isn’t at all uncommon for humans and demons to desire sexual affection from vampires, as a matter of fact, many prefer it. The Clans & Unique Vampires A ‘clan’ is different from a family bloodline because it is a group of vampires made up of different (and in some cases, the same) bloodlines, all band together under the same leadership. In TFW, there are many different clans, but the most known are the Kindred Underground, the Sanctuary of Roth, House of Incortear, Methodian, Cognate of the Trith and the Servants of Irith. Most clans have their own set of laws; they have their own beliefs, their own religions, etc. Some clans form out of rebellion, some vampires join clans to be a part of a circle and to have others close to them. There are many different reasons for clans and many different kinds of vampires within them. The Basics For the most part, TFW vampires are much like the vampires of Anne Rice. So, if you have ever read 'The Vampire Chronicles', then you have a good idea. If not, a few more things to remember about TFW vampires are... 1)...
