She is an Ancient Demon of the Underworld, those known to few as the Urandrum. All beings
of the Marakai know the Urandrum exist, but few have ever faced one, unless in
human form where they’d not even know. Though she has only been Made Urandrum
for approximately twenty-five years, Aziza Bast has powers and abilities that
far surpass even some of the oldest Archons. She is still considered ‘ancient’
because of the Urandrum blood that flows through her veins. It is the oldest of
demon blood. In actuality, setting aside the years being of this race, Aziza
Bast is over two hundred years old, but since she cannot remember her past—even
the many years she lived in the Marakai before being Made—there can really be no
accurate age for her.
She both loves and hates her connection to the IV Marakian Beasts, loves and
hates who and what she is, but this conflict is a dangerous burden to carry for
one like her. Her knowledge of the Marakai is vast. She knows things that can
turn the Marakai into her own tool, and unlike many Urandrum, her connection to
the outside world, combined with that of the Underworld, is a force to be
reckoned. Only the most ancient of Urandrum demons know who and what Aziza Bast
was in her past lives, but the rumors are that she was extremely intelligent,
leadership material and furtive in unfathomable ways—the reasons she was Chosen
to become what she is today.
Aziza can create small-scale illusions. She can also manipulate water, and she
is a known expert potion-maker. She also has the innate ability to conceal the
demon in her to other beings—it is one advantage of being a Urandrum—but when
her uncontrollable transformation starts to happen, she must leave the sight of
others. In this time—an only in this time—is she capable of teleportation. Her
features become ailing. Sometimes she appears pale and thin. Dark circles form
under her eyes. Others have seen this change happen so suddenly, and soon after,
Aziza disappears and is not seen again for three days on average. When she
returns, she is herself again; beautiful and enigmatic by all accounts. Aziza is
very private and even those considered close to her, cannot honestly say they
know her. But one thing is for certain, they do know she cannot always be
trusted. She is the very definition of 'unpredictable'. She seems to enjoy
solitude, even in the midst of a crowd where she can sit quietly and observe.
Aziza typically appears cool and aloof; seemingly disinterested in the business
of others, but there are times she develops a peculiar urge to associate. This
urge is often triggered by petty things, such as talk of sweet or sour wine, or
even the weather, for example. One thing that is known of Aziza's past as a
Urandrum is that of a man she was seen with quite often. He is believed to have
been her lover. They say he came from Greece, and those who claim to have known
him, call him 'Thais'. It has been nearly six months since Thais was seen last,
but of course, Aziza speaks nothing of him. It is as if she never knew him. The
truth is that he was tortured and killed by the Urandrum because they saw him as
threat to Aziza. And since Thais, the other Urandrum have been watching every
move made by her, just waiting for the day she slips too far and they must kill
her too.
Not long ago, Aziza Bast's extraordinary life took a turn for the...well, she
has yet to know this. But the troubles have become a weight on her chest. There
are things she does not understand, even about herself, but she knows there are
consequences to many of her actions. She must be careful, or events are likely
to unfold that she has no control over. Aziza has many inner struggles, none of
which she ever speaks of, but often displays even when she tries to hide them.
But those ailing features and disappearances are not the only burdens she
carries, many of them are in her mind and in her dark heart. And hardly any of
them she understands. She struggles with her very existence, more than anyone
can ever know, but few. She is strong, powerful, beautiful…but she is also frail
and fearful of some things that haunt her in the shadows of her mind. But this
fear, very few have ever seen.
Aziza is part of the Marakian Empire, and has recently been given the Black
Tower of Brada, in the Land of Brada. She is now the Overlordess, but she
refuses to carry the title. She never liked titles, says they make one feel more
important than they truly are, and that those who carry none, will have more
respect. It is difficult to determine where her loyalties truly lay, if even she
has such loyalties to the Marakian Empire. The Empresses despise her, but
something behind her dark blue eyes led them to freely give her the tower, in
which she wanted. Aziza is by far one of the most mysterious and intriguing
people in the Marakai, and this is stated by many accounts. But be it known, the
empire is always watching her, and this she is very well aware of. She seems
aware of everything. She is watching even when her back is turned. Some people
fear Aziza, though they themselves may be uncertain why. Whatever their
justified reasons, it helps to give Aziza that solitude she prefers. But over
all else, still, unpredictability is the word that describes her best. This
should never be forgotten.
But above all else, Aziza is the one Urandrum that strayed from the ways of her
secretive race and the reporting of such things that are needed to be known to
the Elder Urandrum. She has, on her own, been outside the Marakai. She secretly
meets with one to assure certain things would happen in the near future, especially
against those she loathes. Though she has a very pesky watcher, that watcher cannot
be around at all times, and this is when Aziza uses her abilities to assure that
those whom are enemies, whether to the Urandrum or to herself, fall. With her inner
struggle, it is a wonder if she even knows what her actions will bring.
