-Character Profile-

Adian is a Fallen Angel, first son of the Fallen Angel, Harut.

-The Written Transcript of Harut & Marut-

It is known as lore related to angelic lust for human beings. Humanity’s seeming inability to avoid temptation and sin prompted the angel brothers, Harut and Marut to make some uncomplimentary remarks about humankind. God responded that an angel would fail as miserably as human beings if placed under the same conditions. In answer to God’s challenge, Harut and Marut were chosen to go down to Earth, with strict instructions to avoid the most severe sins of murder, idolatry, alcohol, and illicit sexual relations.

Almost immediately, Harut and Marut were overcome by a desire for an attractive woman. Caught in the act by a passerby, they killed him so that no one could testify to their sin. However, as one might anticipate, the all-knowing God was perfectly aware of their actions. Furthermore, he arranged it so that the angels in Heaven would witness the reprehensive actions of their brothers on Earth.

Having miserably failed the test, Harut and Marut were punished by being held upside down in a well in Babylon, this being preferable to eternal punishment in Hell. The other angels had to admit that God was right, and, presumably, snide remarks about the weakness of humanity ceased to be made within the presents of Heaven. As for Harut and Marut, they occupied their time teaching sorcery to humanity and they became Fallen. Although they never failed to warn human beings of the ultimate consequence of practicing the forbidden arts.

Unknown-

Adian’s mother, Adraniel, was also a ‘true’ Fallen Angel as his father, Harut was. So, Adian himself is considered among the many true Fallen that live today, because of his pure blood. The soul of Adian may be damned, but his spirit is kind and compassionate. He is a being of honor and nobility. He has fought in many wars against the oppressors of his kind and for the re-entry into his Heaven. Long ago, Adian was a follower of the Four Fallen Divinity, but the more he grew to know their ways, the further he grew from their beliefs. He may still strive for the same goal as the Divinity, but he no longer agrees with the majority of their views.

Adian has not called any place home for nearly sixty-years. He is a wanderer, but when he is called back to fight for his race, or alongside an ally, he returns and stays long enough to fulfill that duty. But then he becomes the wanderer again, as if always seeking some purpose he knows is there, but cannot find it.

About nine years ago, Adian’s eyes fell on a face he could never forget no matter how hard he tried. His name, Lysander Serafim Meridius, a vampire. As far as Adian knows, this vampire has never seen Adian. Adian would watch him only for a short time when their paths would cross among a crowd of people, but never would he give away any indication that he was passionately intrigued by him.

Adian knew he could not continue with this innocent intrigue and so he never looked for Lysander again, and thought of him only on occasion until eventually the memory faded completely. Now, Adian roams, taking up temporary residence here and there about the world, but never in the Marakai. He has been there several times, and wishes never to go back.

Adian is a warrior and a lover, a diplomat and a spy. He is both gentle as well as vengeful when he must be. He can be merciful as well as merciless. But above all, Adian is genuine. What you see is what you get.
