Sabriel was born in Rome to the poor, but very well liked, Tiranius family. She went through her first years of life with grace but when her brother was born she devoted herself to taking care of him. Octavius was a sickly child and shunned by society. While other little girls played, Sabriel fed her brother. Everyone respected her for this, but talked about her behind her back. As the days went by, Sabriel would dream and long for adventures without responsibility, but to no avail, she would only sigh and finish her duties. Sabriel did learn many things she would use later in life from her father. He taught her defense by bow and arrow, sword, and gave her his old dagger. She also took care of the family horse, named Starlight. When she was 15, her parents wanted her to consider marriage, but she told them she was waiting until she got older, and her brother got better. But his getting better turned for the worse. When Sabriel was 16 and her brother 10, he passed away in his sleep. This devastated the family, but the community was glad to be rid of what they called a 'demon possessed child'. Sabriel then started training and practicing harder with her weapons every day. Soon enough, she could beat her father who was once a soldier in the army. Her parents begged her to settle down and start a family but she was too angry and refused. Two years later, on a crisp spring night, Sabriel went to the market and came back to her parents drained of blood. She took off her mother's favorite necklace and put it around her own neck. Sabriel knew that vampires were real and around especially since her father told her about the opening of some portal a few moths ago, but why would they kill her parents? Why now? Did they fail to tell her something about their past lives before she was born? Sabriel buried her parents and mourned by herself. She spent the next few months planning to leave and getting supplies. Then on her 19th birthday, she packed a few pouches of food, grabbed her weapons, mounted Starlight and left her little villa. Where was she going? Why, to seek adventures like she dreamed of, and maybe get revenge on a few vampires too...
