Rashida is Sakhmet Meshkene's sister. They grew up together, around the same things and the same
people, so Rashida –like Sakhmet- knows various things, some useful
information, some very useless. Like her sister she grew up around a
nourishing mother, an architect and astronomer father, and an elder brother
obsessed with war and battle. No matter how many times she’s tried to stray
away from weapons and fighting it comes but natural to her from growing up
around both Sakhmet and Khalfani. Of the three, she was the pacifist, and when
the three were in an argument she’d settle things peacefully.
After they began to grow up, Sakhmet ran from men’s marriage proposals while
Khalfani enrolled in the ranks of the Egyptian army, Rashida was uncertain of
a path, until one day she was sent to give the offerings of fish and wheat to
one of the temples. There she found her calling and finally entered into the
ranks of priesthood.
Throughout the years she studied and went up the ranks slowly, until finally
becoming the Divine Adoratrice – Wife of the gods. She keeps a life of
celibacy within her temple, served on by her acolytes. She teaches the people
about the gods and is a ‘link’ to all the gods and the people of Egypt. She
keeps little to no communication with her sister or brother any longer and
what they see of her is scant.
She visited her sister a few times over the years, to congratulate her on her
marriage to the pharaoh, to help in Sakhmet’s son’s birthing, then to mourn
with her the death of her husband. Rashida now leaves her temple more often,
although now she is different. Since the coming of the Marakai she is still
the sweet, passive Rashida of childhood, but there is a seriousness about her,
a mystery to her eyes. She converses most with the High Priestess of Osiris
and the High Priests of Seth and Anubis. Since the coming of the Marakai she
walks the halls more often and holds meetings every few moons.
No one knows what Rashida has in store for Egypt as of yet, but slowly her
plans unfold, in whispers and in rumors. New cults have opened, worshiping the
Marakai’s like demi-gods sent by Anubis, Set and Osiris. Rumor says Rashida
has begun these cults, other say she is trying to stop the cults from forming
at all.
Only time will tell.
