They call her the ‘Sovereign of War’; beautiful and fair, Empress Perseis Castalia of the Marakian Empire appears soft, but beneath the deceptive shell dwells a dark evil. Her mind is known to be impenetrable by even the most skilled of mind readers, her ruling hands are made of steel, as are her emotions, and behind her throne, it is believed there lies the secrets of the Marakian Dimension. Perseis is only one of two leaders of the Marakian Empire, in equal ruler ship with her younger half-sister, Empress Nicia Madelhari, but the two are nearly complete opposites of one another…and they despise each other immensely. Despite their abhor, Perseis and Nicia work well together to lead their empire and only in personal matters do their personalities often conflict.

Perseis is cool, aloof and extremely impassive. Rarely does she show the true level of her anger, faring better to keep it at bay for the sake of those around her. To witness her excited, or even amused is a rare sight to behold. She is all war and politics, rarely nothing more or less and she has been known to shun men no matter how attractive, intelligent or strong they are. Simply put, Empress Castalia has no time for anything other than what she was sent here to do. Perseis has no children and even the identity of any other family other than her dead parents, is unknown.

Perseis is called the ‘Sovereign of War’ because war is what she does best and she has an inscrutable way of causing it. People believe that she is somehow an entity in the creation of war; others believe she possesses great powers of influence and persuasion in which she uses innately to convert, dominate and control. Beliefs are usually only beliefs, but sometimes there is truth to them. But it is true that the recent bloodshed between the Egyptian Kingdom and the borders of Roman Empire territory were caused by Perseis. Hundreds of witnesses share the same account: they saw before their eyes soldiers turning on their own men in the midst of battle, causing the downfall of the Turkish Empire and that of Syria.

Perseis’ race is truly what sets her apart from the rest of the world—even the Marakai. She is one of very few who are half Archon demon and half Fallen Angel. She was the First offspring between these two rival races. The Archons and the Fallen hate one another, and have been at war since the angels fell and the Archons were created as their eternal adversaries. It was a forbidden union between her genitors, and both were put to death by the others race, shortly after Perseis’ birth three hundred years ago. Perseis was to meet the same fate as her mother and father, but an unknown power stopped the execution for reasons that only Perseis may be able to divulge.

She inherited traits from both races, but as a result of the mingling of their bloods, within her there formed a new trait that no other race bears: she can not only manipulate and control both fire and water, but she can create it. There are, of course many beings of this world that have the ability to maintain these two opposite elements, but Perseis is the only known being who can create both. Other beings of her kind may very well possess such an extraordinary ability, but there has yet been proof that others like her still live. Empress Castalia technically has three forms: human, Fallen and Archon, but her human form is the one she most wears. She inherited the black feathered wings of the Fallen Angel and a great set of massive horns inherited from the Archon blood in her. But no matter what form she is in, she always appears more human than anything, and she seems to prefer the human form, perhaps because it is the neutral between her rival blood. It is apparent that when she does take on another form, her personality and mindset shifts to the nature of that particular form. She may side with the Archons, or the Fallen Angels. Most trust that for this very reason, Perseis feels that she is hardly in control and it is why she prefers the human in her, in which she controls flawlessly.

Aside from her ability to create water and fire, the only other power that Perseis has is that of ‘conversion’. However, she has been known to favor spells such as a Flesh Glamour (an illusory spell that allows the spell caster to take on the appearance of other people) and a Flesh Clone (an illusory spell that allows the spell caster to make duplicates of herself). She has spent many years perfecting these two particular spells and has proven to strengthen their effect and lengthen the amount of time they have before wearing off.

Empress Perseis Castalia was executed at the command of the citizens of Deshu, after having committed treason by reportedly abandoning her throne. She was succeeded by Radu Haji.
