Runaways often find themselves bound to
the hopes of a better life and unrequited freedom. For Mercy Tuulikki, running
away was the only option she had at getting a life beyond what her father and
her mother had placed for her years ago. At a considerable age, she learned that
she had become a misandrist - one who hates men - and since then, she has been
very cautious in the company of men. Mercy is not one to speak of her past, and
dwell on the emptiness of what could have been. Instead the stern but passionate
woman deals on what is ahead of her and the bright future that her life has
inspired to become. Although, she isn’t one to speak of herself or of her life,
most notably obvious about her is that she is of some importance. She has a
considerable heirloom back where her ‘home’ is, but what is it, even she does
not speak of it - and if she does, it remarks that she is quite comfortable with
the person and by no means would attempt to harm her in anyway.
Her spite for men came naturally though. Although her mom had married a man, and
even produced offspring with him, she truly hated men and despised their ways.
But even when that is the case, she still allowed her husband to treat her very
ill in front of the children. Mercy had always been quite fond of her mother,
and witnessing this stirred the same emotions her mother had for men. The only
male she kept in her environment was her brazen childhood friend Marcellus
Raffaelo Volkan. At the age when she was coming into puberty, she became quite
aware about sexual intercourse and all that came along with it. But she never
would allow any boy to touch her, fearing that every male is out to harm her the
way her father has harmed her beloved mother.
When the time came to marry Mercy to a valuable suitor, Mercy wasn’t going to
stand by and allow herself to be traded into a marriage that she didn’t want to
have any involvement in. So after this event, Mercy left her lands and all that
came with it, leaving to live a life in a solitary life; alone and utterly
spent. But it wasn’t that long after her leaving that her childhood friend
Marcellus Volkan came to guide her, and to protect her from any harm along her
travels. She immediately sensed that her friend had been hiding something,
whether it was feelings or a hidden agenda, she did not know how to approach her
protector any longer. Though they are in company with one another, they are
somewhat distant from one another, respecting each other space.
In secrecy she holds unrequited feelings towards Marcellus Volkan. She knows now
whether he cares for her in that way, but she keeps to her training, believing
that men are scoundrels. But that belief is slowly fading away, and in due time
perhaps may cease to exist.
